Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Wings
- 3 lb chicken wings
Sauce
- 1 cup ketchup
- 3/4 cup honey
- 4 tbsp chilies in adobo sauce (using sauce only)
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken wings: Place the 3 pounds of chicken wings in your slow cooker, making sure they are evenly spread out for consistent cooking.
- Make the sauce: In a small bowl, thoroughly mix together 1 cup ketchup, 3/4 cup honey, 4 tablespoons adobo sauce from the chilies, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon pepper, 1 teaspoon onion powder, and 1 teaspoon garlic powder to create a well-blended, flavorful sauce.
- Coat the wings and start cooking: Pour half of the prepared sauce over the wings in the slow cooker and toss or stir to coat each wing evenly. Cover with the lid and cook on high heat for 4 hours until the wings are tender and fully cooked.
- Broil for finishing touch: When the cooking time is complete, preheat your oven’s broiler. Transfer the cooked wings onto a foil-lined baking sheet. Brush the remaining half of the sauce generously over the wings, then broil them for 3 to 4 minutes or until the sauce becomes sticky and slightly caramelized. Keep a close watch to prevent burning.
- Serve: Optionally, sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top for a pop of color and freshness. Serve the wings warm and enjoy the perfect balance of sweet, smoky, and spicy flavors.
Notes
- Using adobo sauce from the canned chilies gives the wings their signature smoky heat; adjust quantity if you prefer milder wings.
- Broiling is essential to caramelize the sauce and achieve a slightly crispy exterior.
- You can prepare the wings ahead by slow cooking and refrigerating them; just broil before serving.
- Serve with celery sticks and blue cheese or ranch dressing for a classic wing experience.
