Description

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with these festive Rice Krispie Treats featuring a classic combination of buttery marshmallow coating, crispy cereal, a chocolate drizzle, and colorful red and pink sprinkles. Perfect for a sweet, easy-to-make holiday treat that kids and adults will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup red and pink sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare baking dish: Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray or butter to prevent sticking and allow easy removal of the treats.
  2. Melt butter and marshmallows: In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until bubbly. Add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until they are fully melted and smooth, creating the binding mixture for the treats.
  3. Mix in cereal: Remove the saucepan from heat and quickly mix in the Rice Krispies cereal, stirring thoroughly until all the cereal is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  4. Press into baking dish: Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use greased hands or a spatula to press the mixture down firmly, creating an even layer for the base of your treats.
  5. Add chocolate and sprinkles: Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, using short bursts of 20-30 seconds and stirring in between to prevent burning. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the pressed treats, then immediately sprinkle the red and pink sprinkles on top for festive decoration.
  6. Cool and serve: Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about an hour until fully set and firm. Once set, cut into squares or use cookie cutters to create fun Valentine’s shapes for serving.

Notes

  • Use greased hands or a spatula to press the mixture down to prevent sticking.
  • For a quicker chocolate melting process, use the microwave in short intervals and stir frequently.
  • Store leftover treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Feel free to customize the sprinkles colors for other occasions.
